Our aim is to share information among members and friends of the Churches of the Kingswood Bristol Circuit. However, we know that many people go looking (surfing) on the world-wide web to find information about the heritage of places, researching their family history.
If that is your interest, we can tell you about 2 unusually good resources.
There are many enthusiasts who love to find out about the area, and many resources are in the collections of the Kingswood Heritage Museum website here in Tower Lane, Warmley (enquiries ‘phone 0117-9605664). The Museum has been involved in the production of a superb FREE booklet by the Local Council -
"The South Gloucestershire Nonconformist Trail".
Copies are in many of our Churches, and local Museums and libraries.
We have many strong associations with Methodist History. The first field preaching which led to the birth of Methodism was on Hanham Mount, in our Circuit: There is a link from the Hanham Church's website to special pages concerning the Mount.
John Wesley's Chapel site also gives important information about this living piece of History in the City Centre- visit

Many Bristolians have not ever been to see it, so if you are from the area, do go in and support its work.
In the wider field of research, a great resource is the preaching 'Plans' which are a feature of British Methodism. The Society of CIRPLANOLOGISTS can be approached by a letter (remember them?) at 26 Roe Cross Green, Mottram, Hyde, Cheshire SK14 6LP, United Kingdom
THE WESLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY meets in various cities, including Bristol LOCALLY:
There is a comprehensive account of the history of Potterswood Church on their website, an account of the recent history of Unity Oldland on theirs, and a review of the recent history of Summerhill church on the Newsletter page of this website
